From Boone, North Carolina to the Catskills Mountains in Upstate New York, The Nude Party have been on a wild ride navigating the music industry. The six, and occasional seven, members of the band have already marked the psychedelic rock scene in a major way with just one album.

Bringing elements from 70s rock, and almost Rolling Stone type sounds, The Nude Party has brought back the music in a brand-new style. Also, worth mentioning, the boys work under Oakley Munson, whose name you might recognize as the drummer of Atlanta garage rock band, The Black Lips. Oakley mentors the band and produced the first self-titled album released on July 6, 2018. Since then, The Nude Party has toured nonstop, playing hundreds of shows. I was lucky enough to have seen The Nude Party three times before, once at Shaky Knees Music Festival, once at a basement venue in late October, and opening for the Arctic Monkeys on their Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino tour. Their live stage presence is almost more memorizing than their studio album. My favorite experience of seeing them live has to be the Drunken Unicorn. For background, The Drunken Unicorn is a tiny venue in Atlanta located in the basement of a tattoo parlor. I saw the Nude Party there on October 19, 2018, and it was of the most memorable show experiences I've had. The band is always so vibrant with energy each encounter I've had with them. Notably, Austin Brose, the percussionist whose main instrument is a bongo, brings excitement by playing with his whole heart, whipping his long hair around in the process. Also, the stage presence of bassist, Alec Castillo, his shoulder shaking moves are very distinguishable and one of a kind. The band as a whole has the best energy live and also executes the album flawlessly. Jon “Catfish” DeLorme, the pedal steel guitarist brings an extra flair to their live act as well, and pulls in their signature sounds. The first two times seeing them, Catfish was absent but at Shaky Knees, he served his purpose.

I would absolutely recommend seeing them live, for they’re of my favorite bands and acts of all time, and with the announcement of a new single “Shine Your Light” out now and their second studio album, Midnight Manor out October 2nd on New West Records, the band has some new things in the works. Once the state of the world is settled, new tour dates and such could be the outcome, be on the lookout.
